The Code of Conduct was established to maintain
the morals and ethics of the Mudbone Football League. It’s aim is to
provide proper corrective feedback, to assure the MFL reflects standards
that hold each of its members, collectively and individually, in the
highest regard.
Violations of the Code of Conduct will result in penalties
assessed to the perpetrator, or those trusted with care of the
perpetrator. Such penalties are not assessed with malice or to disgrace
the violator, but to encourage and nurture the offender to become a
greater example of themselves.
The Code of Conduct deems that:
A. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Those that are unable to produce favorable results are not only a
disgrace onto themselves, but leave those in their presence with a foul
disrespect for their substandard efforts. It is hoped those that cannot
meet certain levels of achievement will attempt to right their repugnant
ship.
Minimum Scoring
Any team that is unable to muster more than ten points in any given game
should be ashamed of themselves. Any owner that cannot rally their team
to score eleven points, or more, shall forfeit $5.00 to the League Pool.
Playoff Expectation
It should be every owner’s goal and expectation to guide their team into
the playoffs. Those that cannot are Failures. Such failure will result
in a $5.00 remittance to the League Pool.
Inability to Maintain Dignity
In that every owner should strive to make the playoffs, an owner that
manipulates his squad in such a manner as to finish dead last - is
branded a LOSER. Such ineptitude should bring the offending loser to
their knees, an additional $5.00 will be deposited to the League Pool.
B. MANAGERIAL ATTENTION
When at the beginning of the season, each owner throws their hat into
the ring - they do so with the obligation to spend a certain amount of
time tending to the affairs of their franchise. Whereas one would not
tolerate a neglectful parent, similar spite is held towards a neglectful
owner.
Failure to pay attention
Nothing is more demoralizing to those putting forth their best effort,
than for those around them to not. Leaving a player in one’s starting
line-up who is on a bye week is an unconscionable failure to pay
attention to detail. Such laziness will be taxed with a $5.00
contribution to the League Pool.
C. PLAYER CONDUCT STANDARDS
The company we keep is a reflection of ourselves. The employment of
ill-respected individuals not only tarnishes one’s own reputation, but
holds the entire league in an undesirable light. The players on a
team’s roster must adhere to certain standards of conduct.
On Field Conduct
Such as you may scold the wrongdoing of a child, wayward players
sometimes are reprimanded by the NFL for poor decisions. The Code of
Conduct recognizes the authority of the NFL (to include teams of the
NFL) to police their subjects, and orders: 1) owners will be fined
$1.00 for each game a player on their roster is suspended; and 2) a
$1.00 fine will be assessed per $5,000 a player is ordered by the NFL to
pay. As a matter of clarification, a $1 to $5,000 fine will result in a
$1.00 violation of the Code of Conduct, a $5,001 to $10,000 fine
is $2.00, and so on.
Off Field Conduct
Nothing is more appalling than a person who cannot conduct themselves in
a civilized manner. Laws have been adopted by society to protect the
common man from those lacking self-control. The MFL has no remorse for
those that run afoul of the law. Where this country’s law considers the
accused innocent until proven guilty, the Code of Conduct
considers the accused guilty when charged. Multiple violations are
independent and will be fined individually.
Players charged with a crime
will be issued a $5.00 fine per charge.
Felony Offenses
will result in an additional $5.00 fine per charge.
Drug/Alcohol Involvement
will see the owner penalized another $5.00.
Crack Involvement
will double the fine to $10.00.
Owner Remedies
Owners will be afforded the opportunity to redeem themselves in the eyes
of their peers. As a matter of clarifications, an owner will not be
held accountable for the actions of a player prior to being on that
franchise’s roster (except as prescribed further). However, an owner
is responsible for fines that result of being charged with a crime,
regardless of when the actual crime took place.
Waiving a Fined Player will absolve the owner of a
monetary fine.
Tainted Players
are those that have been either been waived by another owner to forego
payment of a fine, or a free agent that would have been subject to a
fine if they had been on a roster. Such players are otherwise
considered free agents, however an acquiring franchise is responsible
for the fine carried by the player - and the fine must be received by
the Treasurer before such a “tainted” player will be allowed into a
starting line-up.
D. ENFORCEMENT
Fines are due to the League Treasurer before the beginning of the second
game following notification by the Commissioner. Debts, arrangements,
promises, grudges, transgressions, or the such - will under no
circumstances preclude an owner’s rendering payment to the League Pool.
Commissioner Notification
The Commissioner will notify the violating owner of the nature of their
offense and the amount of the fine. The Commissioner will cite the
source which, in circumstances outside the immediate scope of the MFL,
provided documentation of the violation. It is not the Commissioner’s
responsibility to provide the owner with anything other than the date
and name of the source. Notification may be in writing or verbal.
Delinquent Payments
Fines are considered paid when the Treasurer physically receives
payment. If payment of a fine is not paid before due the franchise’s
roster will be frozen. Any fines that result from a frozen roster
remain the responsibility of the owner.
Frozen Rosters
When it has become necessary to freeze a roster, such a franchise will
not be allowed to alter their roster or starting line-up in any manner.
Lifetime Ban Fines that are not paid before the fourth
game following notification, or by the completion of the Mudbone
Championship game will be considered a refusal to render payment.
Refusal to render payment will result in the owner(s) being banned from
the MFL for the remainder of their life. Arrangements will be made to
run the banned owner’s franchise in trust.
